In 2008, the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Umaru Musa Yar'Adua conferred the honour, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) on Very Rev. Fr. Prof Emmanuel Edeh for his contributions to the development and progress of the country in many fields of human endeavours. Also is recent years, he has picked awards from the African Film Festival and Academy Awards, Teachers without Borders, Nigerian Union of Journalists, University of Nigeria among others, this is just inspirational to make more Africans follow in the footsteps of this great man.
Also in relation to his works as a priest of the catholic church he gives acknowledgement to Christ as the source of all his achievements. Many people have benefited through him spiritually as his personal prayers have transform the lives of the sick, suffering, handicapped, poor, abandoned and troubled youths of the society. Receiving the award on his behalf in Accra, Comrade Chima Achu the national president of Madonna University stated the award to Fr. Edeh is well deserved considering his contribution to the enhancement of human race.
He also stated that Rev. Fr Emmanuel has fulfilled the MDGs by eradicating hunger and poverty, providing scholarships/education and enhancing world peace through his peace center.
